MetaVET Engaging the Sarajevo Community at Maker Faire 2026

Fablab BiH, a partner of the MetaVET project, in cooperation with the global Maker Faire network, organised the Maker Faire 2026 event at the Vila Braun Living Lab Center in Sarajevo.

The event, a Festival of Science, Technology, and Creative Innovation, brought together 110 innovators, including representatives from UNDO and Europlakat BiH, alongside educators, students, researchers, and the wider community, of whom 35% were female, to showcase projects and emerging technologies while promoting STEAM education and hands-on learning. This provided Fablab BiH with an opportunity to showcase the MetaVET project through a dedicated stand featuring the project roll-up and booth.

Visitors were impressed by the MetaVET’s work on the application of cobots and VR, expressing strong interest in the experience and in how they might access the platform. The project’s objectives and innovative training approach were among the key highlights, offering participants valuable insight into the project as a whole, from entrepreneurship and cobotics to metaverse environments.

Special thanks go to the European Union, the Federal Ministry of Education and Science, EIT Urban Mobility, and TeraSA for sponsoring the event, which facilitated participant engagement with various organisations and led to networking and potential collaboration opportunities.

In conclusion, the event served as a platform to showcase present-day innovations such as MetaVET, which are shaping the future of vocational education in the Western Balkans.
